WHAT IS THE GLUM NOTS?
Or rather, who are 'The Glum Nots’? We are a new fellowship group in Missoula, Montana, created from the Big Book suggestion that ‘we are not a glum lot’ and Rule 62*. We hope to form a group of people who want to celebrate the gifts of sobriety - to play, explore, and adventure together. We have much to celebrate and enjoy in our sober lives. We’ll follow the principles of the program and we hope, ‘create the fellowship you crave’. All are welcome to join in any activity - being clear up front what’s needed to participate (equipment, cost, skill level) so folks can opt-in or opt-out; everything will be purely ‘self-supporting’ at the individual level. Not everything will be for everyone, and that’s OK...the activities will rotate so the fellowship grows. Anyone can be a Glum Not - it’s an ‘open’ fellowship, with a clear focus on sobriety and recovery.
WHAT WILL THE GLUM NOTS DO?
Montana has so many activities to offer - each time we gather we’ll do/try something different - activities will be nominated by the fellowship itself and curated just a bit so we don’t do the same thing too many times. Think adventures like hiking, mountain biking, skiing, rafting, or fly fishing. Think sports like disc golf, soccer, biking, volleyball, pickle ball, or golf. We’ll have a mixture of activities; some free and local and some not...but all will be about ego-free, safe, good times. We’re thinking one ‘main’ meet-up a month, but possibly many ‘smaller’ meet-ups more regularly. The Glum Nots is open to anything that happens!
